Ice Hockey WA delivers competitive league competitions that provide players of all ages and skill levels with the opportunity to develop, compete, and enjoy the sport in a structured and supportive environment.
Our leagues form the foundation of ice hockey in Western Australia, bringing together players, clubs, coaches, officials, and volunteers throughout the season. From junior development pathways through to senior competition, our leagues are designed to support participation at every stage of a player's hockey journey.
The Ice Hockey WA season runs annually from March to October, with games played across Perth's two ice rinks: Cockburn Ice Arena in Bibra Lake and Perth Ice Arena in Malaga.

Senior League
The IHWA Senior League provides competitive opportunities for adult players across a range of experience and ability levels.
Competition is conducted across five divisions:
• Premier League (male only)
• Division 1
• Division 2
• Division 3
• Division 4
The Premier League represents the highest level of state-based competition in Western Australia and features checking hockey, while Divisions 1–4 provide non-checking competition for players of varying experience and skill levels.
Games are primarily played on weekends throughout the season, with teams competing for finals positions and championship honours.
Whether you're a developing player, a returning player, or an experienced player, the Senior League offers opportunities to challenge yourself and to continue growing within the sport.

Women's League (PWIHL)
The Perth Women’s Ice Hockey League (PWIHL) is a thriving competition, with 113 players participating in 2026. The PWIHL format involves players of all levels, creating a unique development opportunity for beginners to learn from experienced female players and the league is committed to providing a fun, inclusive and supportive environment.
The season runs over the summer months, usually from October to February, with games at both Perth Ice Arena and Cockburn Ice Arena. For more information see: PWIHL

Junior League
The IHWA Junior League provides a structured development pathway for young athletes, focusing on skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and competitive play.
Competition is divided into the following age groups:
- U9 Mites
- U11 Atoms
- U13 Peewee
- U15 Bantam
- U17 Midgets
Checking hockey is played at the U17 Midget level with females encouraged to play, while younger divisions participate in non-checking competition in accordance with national development guidelines. The Junior League plays an important role in preparing players in local competition and for State and National representative hockey, and future senior competition while ensuring participation remains enjoyable, safe, and development focused.

Para Ice Hockey
Ice Hockey WA proudly supports the growth of Para Ice Hockey in Western Australia through collaboration with local clubs and community partners. Para Ice Hockey provides athletes with lower limb disabilities the opportunity to experience the excitement, teamwork, and competition of ice hockey in an inclusive and welcoming environment.
