Leading Ice Hockey in Western Australia

Ice Hockey WA (IHWA) is the governing body for ice hockey in Western Australia and a proud member of Ice Hockey Australia, the national sporting organisation for the sport. We oversee and support the growth of ice hockey across the state, providing pathways for players of all ages and abilities—from those stepping onto the ice for the first time through to athletes competing at the highest levels of Australian competition.

Established in 1963, Ice Hockey WA has grown into a thriving sporting community with more than 900 members aged between 5 and 79 years. Today, IHWA administers three junior divisions and five senior divisions, delivering more than 400 regular season games and over 25 playoff matches each year across a 27-week season. Western Australia has developed a proud reputation for producing talented athletes, coaches, and officials who have represented the state and Australia on the national and international stage. Our role extends beyond competition management. We are committed to developing players, coaches, officials, volunteers, and clubs while fostering a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for everyone involved in the sport.

Our Commitment

Ice Hockey WA is committed to strong governance, transparency, and responsible leadership to support the continued growth and success of ice hockey across Western Australia. The organisation is governed by an elected Council, which is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the association, ensuring sound financial management, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and acting in the best interests of our members and the wider ice hockey community. Council members are elected by members at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and work collaboratively to oversee the operation, development, and sustainability of the sport throughout the state.
